g and independent woman, Deborah spent many years working as an independent house cleaner for numerous families in Mason City. In 1993, she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) credential and began a new chapter in her career. She worked at Southview Acres in West St. Paul, Minnesota, for 17 years before eventually returning to Mason City. Deborah never drove a car, choosing instead to walk wherever she needed to go—a reflection of her independence, determination, and strength. Family was at the heart of Deborah’s life. She was a beloved mother to Rebecca (Robert) Beaver; a cherished grandmother to Trey (Alicia) Cavanaugh, Austin (Dorian) Beaver, Carter (Mady) Beaver, and Tori Beaver; and a proud great-grandmother to Giovanni and Estrella Cavanaugh. She was also a dear sister to Cyndi (Dale) Syverson, Sue (Bill) Brown, Monica Cavanaugh, and Kris (Rochelle) Cavanaugh. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Deborah’s love, compassion, and bright spirit will live on through the many lives she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories of her radiant smile, generous heart, love of music and animals, and the special moments shared with her will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, T. Don and Delores Cavanaugh; her biological father, Sgt. Robert E. Koller, who was killed in the Korean War; and her grandparents, Lester and Viola Edstrom and Catherine Cavanaugh. A celebration of Deborah’s life will be held at a later date.
