Evelyn S. Rogers

Evelyn S. Rogers, of Bryant, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 81 years old. She was born on August 7, 1941, in Staten Island, New York, a daughter of the late Alfred and Signe (Toanessen) Nilsen. She married Warren Rogers on April 11, 1964, at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension by Warren's father and brothers, Reverends Raymond, Richard, and Marcus Rogers, officiating the Solemn High Nuptial Mass. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2020. She was an X-Ray Technician in Morris Town, New Jersey, and taught radiology students in New York. Evelyn and Warren dairy farmed in New York State and continued to farm when they moved to Wisconsin in 1972. She attended Northcentral Technical College for Nursing. She was a registered nurse in Antigo and at the Homme Home in Wittenberg for 16 years. She was an active member of St. Ambrose Episcopal Church in Antigo, where she played the guitar and led hymns with her husband. Evelyn enjoyed painting, drawing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her dogs and published a book about them titled, Zach, Zoey, and Lucky. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Denise) Rogers of Auburn, IL and Susan Rogers of Bryant; two sons, John (Cindy) Rogers of Sandpoint, ID, and James (Kimberly) Rogers of Bryant; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Carol McKernon of Clarksville, TN. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Rogers; brother, Kenneth Nilsen; and brother-in-law, Glen McKernon. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church. Visitation will be Monday, November 21 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and Tuesday at the church from 9:30 to the time of service.
